Eighth Grade Essay Contest
"Why I Will Say NO to Alcohol, Drugs and Tobacco!"
In an effort to stimulate research and discussion about the problems of the illegal use of drugs, alcohol and tobacco, the Missouri Peace Officers Foundation proudly sponsors an essay contest for eighth grade students throughout Missouri. The winners are announced at the end of each school year.
The winning essays are based on content, grammar and punctuation skills as well as research, organizational skills and presentation. The MPOF awarded $1,200 in prizes for six exemplary essays.
Congratulations to all students from throughout the state who participated in the contest. The number of excellent essays made it difficult for the essay committee in their selections.

Second Place West Side: Garet Jackson, Northeast Nodaway School, Ravenwood. Second Place East Side: Jessica Porter, Jefferson Junior High School, Columbia. Third Place West Side: Sydney Ratliff, Salisbury R-IV School, Ssalisbury; Third Place East Side: Ben Soeter, Sacred Heart School, Poplar Bluff.
